Description

Ignis Scientia

Ok so I have this headcanon that, in the alternate chapter of Episode Ignis, the Ring kind of left its mark on Ignis’s soul. Not only the Ring’s power marked his body (it took a long while for the scars to disappear), something far worse happened: his mind and body remembered the power and begged him to get it back.

I imagine that despite showing his best self in front of everyone, Ignis had trouble to sleep and eat. He’s was doing his best but couldn’t think about anything but the Ring. With Noctis gone (in the Crystal), Ignis had to face the most difficult years of his life. With time, training, and the presence of his friends (I count Ravus amongst them), he got better but he never forgot this incredible power.

I love the artwork, it gave me a mental image of Ignis feeling a mixture of deep regret. loss of Noctis and his sight but also of his old ways and as you say, the recollection of the power of the Lucis Ring. With Ignis naked and just sitting with his head hung in woe, I could feel he was meant to have a bath to relax, probably as an attempt to feel better in himself, rather than by habit, but ended up just sitting on the edge of an empty tub, reliving that day. He does seem so alone in his thoughts and feelings and it is not surprising that he would be, he holds the secret as a burden. You have captured the whole mood and sorrow of this man so well in this picture, that I find myself empathising with Ignis and wanting to offer some comfort. Totally beautiful picture and this is the only naked Ignis that I have seen with the true character of the man thought off and kept in mind. I can see this is an Ignis in a very sad place not just by the look but his feelings come out clearly in your art. Thank you for sharing this and for making a painting of Ignis nude with the dignity he deserves. I look forward to seeing more like this.
